Between low-level system sockets and high level HTTP frameworks and systems, there are some interesting distributed libraries, being ZMQ (ZeroMQ) or Nanomsg well known for providing out of the box with mature and robust solutions for multiple paradigms: pub-sub, broadcast, multicast, etc. To complement them, there exist serialization frameworks as FlatBuffers or Google Protocol Buffers, able to automate efficient binary serialization. All these technologies will be introduced and then they will be compared from the developer point of view, building and comparing simple applications with them in C/C++ languages.\\
