**Bio**: I have over 30 years experience in IT, using a variety of languages and
platforms and have experienced working for a number of different companies
over the years.\\
In 1989 I became a contract computer programmer and have successfully
managed to remain at the technical end of IT ever since;
my recent work has mostly been in C++ and Java, on Windows and Linux.\\
\\
I have been a member of ACCU since 1999; I currently run the Code Critique
section of CVu and also write the occasional article.\\
\\
I am a member of the BSI C++ panel, catchily known as IST/5/-/21, and have
represented the UK at recent C++ ISO standards meetings.\\
\\
