In the rush to embrace shared-memory multi-threading as the framework of choice for managing concurrency and parallelism, models such as actors, dataflow, CSP (communicating sequential processes), and data parallelism got forgotten by mainstream computing folk. Now that it has become clear again that shared-memory multi-threading is a low-level foundation and operating system approach, higher-level architectures are becoming in vogue. GPars has brought dataflow and CSP to the JVM for use with Java or Groovy codes (indeed any JVM-based language).\\
