The software industry is young, and unfortunately its lacking at least one component of a mature industry: the craftsmanship. We have a lot of buggy and useless software in the world. There were many catastrophes thanks to the characteristics of our working environment (high pressure with tight deadlines). Don't you think it is time to move the software industry to the next level? If yes, there is one possible way: we have to transform ourselves from simple coders, testers to software craftsman. In this presentation we will walk through on an analogy between craftsman in other industries and in software industry. We will see what does it mean to be a craftsmen in software development and what the principles behind it. How can you apply these principles in your life? And finally we will see how craftsmanship can help you to be more valuable for your company and to be more successful in your work life.
