Type: Workshop
Duration: 90 minutes
Description:
Simply following agile methods is not enough for reaching the benefits of better
products, a collaborative environment with customers and more satisfied teams.
We are told, that Agile needs leadership. But what kind of leadership does an
engineer, does the engineering team expect and actually need? What are the
basic conditions individuals need to be motivated? And what are the team needs
to grow a powerful cross-functional setup? Its certainly more than increase of
team performances in terms of velocity or quality figures.
Leadership is more than just a re-thinking of the management system and the
manager’s roles. In order to be credible, leadership is a joint effort on the team as
well as on management level. Credible leadership is the baseline for triggering a
shift in mind-sets and the engine for growing a learning organization. It is
following lean principles and agile values. It is a cultural phenomenon strongly
promoting out-of-the-box thinking, balancing comfort zones for true learning
effects, turning into individual and organizational growth.
This session outlines a hands-on approach for applying leadership on the
perspective of agile engineering teams. Differentiating on the organizational
culture we experience the practices of credible leadership, how to get there and
how to share the efforts in-between managers and the team. Based upon
practical examples we meet the pitfalls of traditional leadership approaches and
learn how to overcome them.
Roger: no strong views.
