Title: Transactional Memory
Proposer: detlef_vollmann
Type: Tutorial
Duration: 90 minutes
Description: For quite some time transactional memory is presented as the future way of synchronization and a way to get rid of explicit locking.

Now, the future is here.

With the announced transactional memory support for Intel's Haswell architecture transactional memory will arrive at everybody's computer. So this talk looks at what transactional memory actually is, how to work with it and what the problems of transactional memory are.

The talk also presents the proposed C++ interface for using transactional memory that is currently discussed in a special study group of the C++ standardization committee.

Intended audience:
This talk is for programmers and designers who are interested in an overview of a new way to tackle concurrency.
